Cut-off Time

e-Cheques received by the Government at or before 5:00 pm (Hong Kong time) on a business day will be transferred to the Government’s designated bank for presentation on the same day. Any e-Cheque received by the Government after 5:00 pm (Hong Kong time) on a business day or received by the Government on a day which is not a business day will be transferred to the Government’s designated bank for presentation on the next business day.

“Business day” means a day (other than a Saturday or Sunday) which is not a public holiday and on which banks are open for general business in Hong Kong.

Payment transactions completed before midnight on the due date will be regarded as on time.

Multiple Bills Settlement

This service gives you the flexibility to settle multiple government bills at the same time using one single e-Cheque. An e-Cheque can be used to settle a maximum of 20 General Demand Notes or 20 government bills under the same department and the same bill type.

e-Cheque Requirements

e-Cheques should be denominated in Hong Kong dollars and made payable to The Government of the HKSAR. Post-dated or expired e-Cheques will not be accepted. An e-Cheque is regarded as expired if it is issued more than 6 months ago. Duplicate presentation of the same e-Cheque is not allowed.

Acknowledgement

For every successful payment transaction, a unique acknowledgement reference number with the transaction date will be generated. You are advised to quote this number when making an enquiry to the bill-issuing department.
